New Purse

Carissa and I made a purse while she was here over the holidays. We went to the Top Stitch, a fabric store here in Spokane that I had never been to. It carries only Amy Butler and similar type fabrics. We had so much fun. We bought this Heather Bailey purse pattern. Her purse is similar to mine, only mine has a smaller flower. It was fairly easy to make, only putting on the handles stressed out my Pfaff.

New Idea

I have an idea for a car garbage bag. It's been rolling around in my head or awhile now. Everybody's front seat is shaped differently, and I think it will be pretty easy to plan a little garbage bag to fit your own car. Pink Chalk Studio brought up the new laminated cotton fabrics, which will be wonderful for this project. It's more up-to-date than the old oilcloth fabric and she gives lots of tips on how to sew with it.

Blog List

I plan to add more of my favorite sewing blogs. One can get wonderful tips if you can take the time to read sewing blogs. I have received so many tips already just from browsing through blogs, and I have a few favorites, which I plan to list.

Hunter's Quilt

Here's a peek at the quilt I am starting for Hunter. This panel is being used (scroll down a bit on the web page and you will see it). I will use a black for the background between the panels to make a twin-sized quilt. some yellow for a narrow border and a brown binding.

Grey Skirt

I made this grey skirt from a lightweight knit, and added a light interfacing to the back to give it a better drape. I decided to add side pockets and referred to Sandra Betzina's Power Sewing book for details and was delighted that it doesn't gape open at the side seam. The stitching, which you can see if you enlarge the picture, was just something I added to give it a little interest.
